 তখন High School এ পড়ি ! প্রায় প্রতি বছর দিদির বাড়ি মদন্ডি যেতাম ষাট-পুজোর আকুরি নিয়ে। মদন্ডি গ্রাম টা ছিল দামোদর নদীর তীরে ঠিক একটা অদ্ভুত সুন্দর জায়গায়। কিলোমিটার খানেক এর মধ্যেই /Neheru Park/ , তার পাশেই বিশাল Pump House, একটু দূরেই ISP Airport. বেড়াতে গিয়ে কখন যে সময় কিভাবে কেটে যেত তার টের পেতাম না। তার ওপরে নদীর মাছ, নদীতে স্নান, নৌকা বাওয়া সব যেন গল্পের মতো মনে হতো. কয়েকজন মিলে সাঁতরে যেতাম নৌকো বাইব বলে। গুন্ টেনে নিয়ে যেতাম ৩/৪ শ মিটার, তারপর সবাইমিলে নৌকায় চড়ে বসতাম। গুন্ টেনে নিয়ে যাওয়ার সময় পুরো ব্যাপার টা শারীরিক ভাবে একটু কষ্ট-দায়ক হলেও নৌকা টা control এ থাকতো বেশ। আবার উল্টো দিকে চড়ে আনন্দ পেতাম ঠিক ই, অনেক তা roller-coaster এর মতো, কিন্তূ কোনো ভাবেই পুরোপুরি control থাকতো না নৌকা টা। মাঝি বলতো, "জোরে চললে বেশি বাইবে না, শুধু দিক ঠিক করে চালিও"। একবার উজান এ চললে কে কার কথা শোনে। নৌকা গিয়ে উঠতো আরো ৩/৪ শ মিটার পার হয়ে। Over and Above All - Flexibility is the Key to Control the Boat.
